The Al Smith Dinner gave both candidates a chance to strut their stuff without the MSM filter. Mitt showed he was a master of comedy; his timing was perfect. That poked huge holes in the Obama campaign narrative that Romney is a robot disconnected from the folks. Obama did OK, but he sometimes seemed surprised when his ghost-written gags got laughs.

I’d look at the cover of the New Yorker after Romney destroyed Obama in debate #1.

He stayed focussed but scored multiple zingers against Obama. He also did a good job of defending against a major weakness, the resemblance of Obamacare to Romneycare. He got that off the table very effectively. I suspect the Dems are unhappy tonight. Good.
