March 2011

A rough transcript of her speech can be found here. The video is here.

I think her performance in the Q&A session was pretty impressive, except for some squishiness when asked about Pakistan. Best line was when she said McCain/Palin lost because she wasn’t top of the ticket. She did it sweetly, but it cut a linkage that stands in her way. During the 2010 election, when she did a campaign stop for McCain, I noted that he was now beholden to her.  Now she’s free.

I checked out the agenda at the conference where she will speak.

First up,

INAUGURAL KEYNOTE ADDRESS
Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister, India
Last up,

Sarah PalinFirst Female Governor of Alaska (2006-2009), 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential Nominee and Author

Most interesting agenda item:

Germaine GreerFeminist writer
Fatima BhuttoWriter, journalist and activist from Pakistan

Sarah Palin is the closing speaker at a conference opened by the Indian Prime Minister. They recognize her influence by giving her that slot.

Noble Palestinian terrorist murders three children and two adults in revenge for them being Jews living in the Holy Land.

World yawns. MSM mostly ignores.

Here’s her latest Facebook blast at Obama. Go read it. It’s good.

I have one minor criticism. She doesn’t mention the devaluation of the dollar, which has made US energy prices increase even more than world prices.

More importantly, I look in vain for such analysis from any other GOP contender. I figure she is thirsting to go after Obama’s throat; this is just a taste of the first drip. If she runs, she will not run against her GOP competitors. No, she will run against Obama from the get-go.

My reaction was that the Supreme Court pays a lot of attention to the Constitution in symbolic areas, such as free speech, but ignores it in substantive areas, such as the commerce clause. Sarah Palin made a similar point in her tweet:

Common sense & decency absent as wacko ‘church’ allowed hate msgs spewed@ soldiers’ funerals but we can’t invoke God’s name in public square

That’s a great juxtaposition. The courts use the Establishment Clause to prohibit any recognition of our Judeo Christian heritage in our public spaces, yet they use the First Amendment to let Muslim radicals and the Westboro nut-cases spew hate.

Sarah got to the heart of that conflict in a tweet.
