People eat meat and fish everyday without giving a thought to where it comes from. Those who rhapsodize about the finer points of sushi and sashimi in trendy Japanese restaurants have given no thought to the labor and skills that delivered their delicacy to their tables. Sarah Palin’s Alaska is teaching America about some basic facts of life. We live; fish die. We live, mammals die. Better the tundra where the game has a chance than the slaughterhouse where the beast has none.

God knows how Sarah Palin’s Alaska impacts America. She’s lost the coastal elites, but she never had them. But she is picking up the bitter clingers, the ones who cling to their guns and religion. There are a lot of voters who would reflexively vote Democrat in that cohort.
