I’m with Toyota on this unintended acceleration charge. The same crapola almost killed Audi in the 80’s.

Funny thing, this never happens on a stick-shift. Now, stick-shifts are a small minority, especially in the Camcord marketplace, but they are still a significant minority. Plenty of Baby-Boomers who started with early Honda Accords and Toyota Coronas started with stick and stayed with it. The throttle mechanism is basically the same between auto and stick; the differences are more likely to be in the software. Yet, no stick-shifts have been implicated in sudden acceleration events.

I figure old farts (I’m one)  stomp the gas pedal instead of the brake and panic. They keep stomping the wrong pedal until they hit something.
