This Guardian piece on the unlikely winner of South Carolina’s Democrat Senate primary portrays him somewhat more sympathetically than his fellow Democrats have. He makes more sense than  Rep. Hank Johnson, who fretted that Guam could tip over.

Personally, I think Colonel Allen West and Tim Scott will blow the Black Caucus out of the water. They are strong contenders to win their seats. Both are Republicans. Both are running in “white” seats. When black candidates win elections by running as Americans, rather than running as blacks in gerrymandered black districts, then we should celebrate the end of racism in America. It is fitting that West and Scott stand as members of Lincoln’s party, the Republican party.
